This is tough news to share. With a heavy heart I am announcing the suspension of my campaign for Congress in Minnesota's 6th Congressional District. During the past few days, I have come to the conclusion that a prolonged primary fight only assists Michele Bachmann. I feel that it is time for the DFL to unify behind one candidate in this race.
Support of the Week:
Rob Jahnke recently took the time to talk about why he supports Maureen Reed.
Please join us for our Campaign Kickoff with Dr Maureen Reed! The woman who will defeat Michele Bachmann this November. Join Maureen on Saturday, May 8th for free burgers and brats. We would love to hear your thoughts and questions about the campaign!
Maureen spoke at a supporter's home near White Bear Lake recently talking about her views, background, and the race for Congress. Neighbors, colleagues and old friends of all political persuasions were interested in what it will take to defeat Michele Bachmann in 2010.
The Reed for Congress Campaign is now looking for summer interns.
We are seeking applicants who have an interest in learning about campaigns and politics first hand. Maureen has a wide background of real-world results in health care, job creation, and education. Help us beat Michele Bachmann and bring sensible leadership to the 6th District.
6th Congressional District Convention
March 27, 2010
Blaine, Minnesota
At a gorgeous home in the Afton bluffs overlooking the St Croix Valley, we had a wonderful event with Maureen and interest voters. Dozens of people filled the living room to listen, ask questions, and hear about how they can help defeat Michele Bachmann in 2010.
Recently Maureen attended a Meet and Greet at Boutwells Landing in Stillwater. More than three dozen delegates from Senate District 52, Senate District 56, and interested residents filled the room to listen to Maureen talk about her background and vision for the campaign.
In a district that is historically a difficult area for Democrats, and in what looks to be a trying political environment, people have asked our campaign how we expect to win against Bachmann.
It is an important question. We can have the best plans for fixing health care, getting our economy back on track, and educating our children; but they will not go into effect unless we can defeat Michele Bachmann.
On Saturday, Maureen was at the Senate District 19 Convention in Buffalo, Minnesota, talking to delegates about her views on the issues and plan to defeat Michele Bachmann.
You can watch Maureen's lively two-minute speech to delegates HERE.
