Who's more likely to perform the politically Herculean feat of ousting GOP cable TV darling Michele Bachmann from her Sixth District congressional seat -- DFL insider Tarryl Clark or outsider Maureen Reed?
At a gorgeous home in the Afton bluffs overlooking the St Croix Valley, we had a wonderful event with Maureen and interest voters. Dozens of people filled the living room to listen, ask questions, and hear about how they can help defeat Michele Bachmann in 2010.
Recently Maureen attended a Meet and Greet at Boutwells Landing in Stillwater. More than three dozen delegates from Senate District 52, Senate District 56, and interested residents filled the room to listen to Maureen talk about her background and vision for the campaign.
In a district that is historically a difficult area for Democrats, and in what looks to be a trying political environment, people have asked our campaign how we expect to win against Bachmann.
It is an important question. We can have the best plans for fixing health care, getting our economy back on track, and educating our children; but they will not go into effect unless we can defeat Michele Bachmann.
On Saturday, Maureen was at the Senate District 19 Convention in Buffalo, Minnesota, talking to delegates about her views on the issues and plan to defeat Michele Bachmann.

At Becki Hafner and Jerry Fogarty's lovely farm home in the Avon hills northwest of St. Cloud, their friends and colleagues filed inside on a beautiful day to learn more about Maureen. Becki hosted the party and supports Maureen because, "I value Maureen's real world experience and I think that it's about time that we elect a female physician to Congress."
Lured by the promise of politics and pizza, young Democrats from the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University gathered at the Gorecki Fireside Commons in Saint Joseph recently to listen to Maureen, and hear her vision for our district, state and nation.
