Afton Meet and Greet
Recently, we had a great event in Afton at the home of Christy and Doug Hlavacek. As a former Chairwoman of the Stillwater School Board, Christy holds the great distinction of being one of the few people who can say that they have beaten Michele Bachmann in an election. In 1999, Christy defeated Michele Bachmann for a seat on the Stillwater school board. In under a year, I look forward to Maureen joining Christy in the exclusive club of individuals who have overcome Bachmann at the ballot box!
The Hlavacek's beautiful home was packed with guests ready to listen to Maureen's vision for the 6th District, Minnesota, and the Nation. Maureen talked about her reasons for getting into the race and how she will tackle the difficult issues of today from Health care reform to foreign affairs. "When I worked at the Fremont Clinic in North Minneapolis, I served under and un-insured patients, and saw the disastrous effects when people delay their health care coverage- in America, we can do better," Maureen said, laying out one of reasons that she got into the race.
